ASTM A638 Grade 660B 660D 660A Alloy A286

ASTM A638 Grade 660 Alloy A286 is a precipitation hardening stainless supplied as round bar available for delivery to the whole of the UK. A precipitation hardening stainless type steel suitable for applications at high temperature. This grade is suitable for applications requiring good corrosion resistance and high strength in temperatures up to 700°C. It can be used at higher temperatures for lower stress applications.

Held on stock and can be delivered throughout the UK.  All orders are supplied in accordance with our ISO 9001 accreditation.

Applications

660B, alloy A286 is a popular specification in the oil & gas industry and is widely used in aircrafts and industrial gas turbines. Typical applications include afterburner parts, fasteners, sockets, schrews, jet engine blades, turbine wheels and exhaust parts.

As an austenitic precipitation hardening steel heat treatment temperatures, including rate of heating, cooling and soaking times will vary due to factors such as the shape and size of each steel component. Other considerations during the heat treatment process include the type of furnace, quenching medium and work piece transfer facilities. Please consult your heat treatment provider for full guidance on heat treatment of 660b, A286.
